Originally from Cologne, I spent four years at French universities, studying Applied Foreign Languages and English, completing with a Master's Degree in English at Lille University in 1991. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy as well as a qualified teacher (PCAP Exeter University/ PGCE Plymouth University) and have taught German A'level and conducted A'level oral exams.
After working in international business in the UK for 14 years, I went on to teach at the Language Centre, where I have taught "German for Business"/ "Fast-track Beginners", "Intermediate I and II". I have developed and taught English and German language programmes for residential educational centres in the UK and Germany, working with teachers and students of all ages.
At present, I teach German in the Language Centre and coordinate the university's open-to-all language programme.
My main interests are the methodology and didactics of language teaching for online and in-person delivery and language for specific purposes in higher education (LSPHE). I have participated at DAAD (Germany, Italy, UK) and Goethe Institute seminars and regularly attend AULC, LSPHE and LanGW4 events.
