As Associate Lecturer (Education & Scholarship) in German, I teach written and oral German language modules, from beginners to advanced levels, in both the Department of Modern Languages and in the Foreign Language Centre.
I am originally from Switzerland and grew up in Greifensee, a small village just outside of Zurich. I studied German and English language and literature, first at the University of Zurich in Switzerland and then at Exeter, where I subsequently completed my PhD in German 19th century literature. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. After teaching at a number of secondary schools in the South West and working as a free-lance translator and as an examiner for the AQA examboard, I turned to teaching exclusively in higher education.
